Netflix has released the first trailer for Chris Columbus’ The Thursday Murder Club movie. Watch it below:

Netflix’s The Thursday Murder Club has one of the starriest British casts in recent memory and we’ve been excitedly waiting for more news on Netflix’s take on Richard Osman’s novel.

Thankfully, we finally have our first look at the action. Take a look at the first The Thursday Murder Club trailer:

Chris Columbus is in the director’s chair for this one while Katy Brand and Suzanne Heathcote have adapted the book into a script.

As you’ve probably gathered from the trailer, Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Ben Kingsley and Pierce Brosnan star as four retirees and amateur sleuths who like to solve cold cases in their free time, usually on Thursdays. But when a real murder occurs, they have a chance to solve something a little more current.

Here’s a proper, official synopsis: Based on Richard Osman’s international bestselling novel of the same name, The Thursday Murder Club follows four irrepressible retirees – Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley) and Joyce (Celia Imrie) – who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun. When an unexplained death occurs on their own doorstep, their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn as they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands. Directed by Chris Columbus, the film is the latest to be produced through the Netflix and Amblin Entertainment partnership.

“I can’t believe that this wonderful cast and crew are bringing the Thursday Murder Club so vividly to life. I’m so proud of the books, and this trailer has made me even more excited about Chris Columbus’ film,” Osman said of the adaptation.

The Thursday Murder Club is hitting Netflix on 25th August.
