Tom Cruise stars in the latest film from Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu, and filming has quietly got underway. More on the story here.

We’re not surprised if Tom Cruise sometimes looks a little tired in interviews. After now completing filming on Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and wrapping production on a project which began filming all the way back in 2020, Cruise has reportedly already finished up shooting the first phase of his upcoming collaboration with Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu.

According to World Of Reel, the project is tentatively titled Judy and will see Cruise play ‘the most powerful man in the world, who embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s saviour before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.’

Sounds cheap.

While the events onscreen may be pretty frantic, they’re set to be matched by Cruise’s off-screen calendar for 2025.

As well as shooting the rest of Judy (or whatever the project is ultimately called), Cruise has to oversee the post-production work on the next Mission: Impossible film, as well as then presumably embark on a huge promotional tor where he turns up in all kinds of unexpected places, engages in several high-profile promotional stunts and (bless him) makes several big deals about watching things in cinemas.

Oh, and he’s set to shoot at least one more film this year, reuniting with his Mission: Impossible director, Christopher McQuarrie to make Broadsword with Henry Cavill and Marion Cotillard.

Shooting on Iñárritu’s project is set to resume in January. Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons and Sophie Wilde all co-star in the feature which has a chance of releasing later in 2025. When we hear more about this one, including a confirmed title, we’ll let you know.

As it stands, several production listing sites have the project listed as a drama/comedy so the film could represent the first major change in direction that we’ve seen from Cruise in well over a decade, with 2012’s Rock Of Ages being the last time that the actor tried to step outside of the action template that he has spent the last part of his career safely sticking to. We’ll bring you more as we hear it.
