A little update on the current state of the planned The Walking Dead movie, as work continues getting the screenplay into place.

Whilst obviously production on the television series is currently shutdown, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic situation, plans remain afoot for a lot more The Walking Dead. On the one hand, there’s more of the TV show and assorted spin-offs. But also, there’s the long-mooted The Walking Dead movie, that’s finally coming to fruition.

The movie will see Andrew Lincoln return to the franchise if all goes to plan. And in a new interview with Syfy, director Greg Nicotero has given an update on the status of the planned film, that is being overseen by former showrunner Scott M Gimple.

“From what I understand from Mr Gimple, the script is well underway”, Nicotero said. “I’ve looked at a couple of early drafts, but I haven’t seen anything lately, but from what I understand they’re digging away at it”.

He added that writers are making the most of the lockdown to get material together. “I have a feeling that when people push the play button again, there’s going to be a lot of material that’s going to be ready to go, because everyone’s getting scripts, and getting stuff just right to the point where they can get it ready before you start shooting”.

There’s no exact timescale announced as of yet for the feature, but as we hear more, we’ll let you know…
