Mike White’s acclaimed comedy drama The White Lotus will soon commence production on season three, the cast has now been confirmed.

Mike White has one of the most eclectic filmographies in Hollywood. From his days as an indie darling in the late 1990s when he penned films like the terrific Chuck and Buck, The Good Girl and Orange County, to big budget blockbusters like Richard Linklater’s School Of Rock, before returning to smaller fare like Year Of The Dog and Brad’s Staus. He then turned to television, scripting two seasons of Enlightened starring Laura Dern.

In 2021, White created what has become his most acclaimed work, The White Lotus, which has amassed a plethora of Emmys across its run so far, both for White’s writing and Jennifer Coolidge’s performance as Tanya McQuoid.

It is a dark drama which follows the employees and guests at the titular high class resort, . White’s scripts examine everything from class and sex to status and, eventually, murder. Each series takes place in a different country. The first was Maui, the second in Sicily and the upcoming third season will be set and filmed in Thailand.

With each new resort comes a new cast, and we now know who will be checking in for the new season – Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs , Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey and Tayme Thapthimthong. The only returning cast member confirmed so far is Natasha Rothwell, who reprises her role as spa manager Belinda.

White will once again write and direct.

White’s current projects couldn’t be further from the cynicism and narcissism portrayed in The White Lotus – he credited as screenwriter on Illumination Entertainment’s animated comedies Migration, which is due in UK cinemas on the 2nd February, and Despicable Me 4, which will be released next year.

Production on The White Lotus season three will begin in February, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
