Times & Galaxy, the latest title from publisher Fellow Traveller, sees you play a robot intern investigating quirky stories across the universe.
Fellow Traveller, the publisher behind titles like Citizen Sleeper, Genesis Noir and Paradise Killer, has announced a new game called Times & Galaxy, which is set to launch in 2024. The game sees you play robotic reporter, and has been developed by Copychaser Games, the team that created 2018’s Speed Dating for Ghosts.
“Embark on an interplanetary adventure as the first robo reporter for the Times & Galaxy, the Dorp system’s most widely-read regional holopaper,” the press release explains. “You’re just an intern but, if you can get the scoop, write great stories and impress your boss, maybe you’ll get to keep your job!”
The head of Copychaser, Ben Gelinas, was previously a newspaper reporter, and so Times & Galaxy is based at least partly on lived experience. The game will see players construct stories by choosing headlines, ledes and quotes, and adding colour, based on the information you can gather in the field by interviewing sources. The better and more accurate the story, the more impressed your editor will be, and the more popular the holopaper will become.
The trailer reveals some of the unusual assignments you’ll be given, including reporting on a space-ghost funeral, covering inter-solar cat shows, and interviewing a giant blob. It all looks wonderfully quirky, and we’ll be keeping an eye on this one ahead of its release next year.
