Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown is on the way, and the first casting details have been confirmed.

It was reported in February that The Girl From The North County, a musical written around a selection of Bob Dylan’s songs, is heading to the big screen. That’s project number one.

A biopic of the iconic singer songwriter is also on the way. A Complete Unknown will focus on a pivotal time in Dylan’s life and career, when he went from folk to electric at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, a historic musical moment that divided fans and critics, but set him on the path to becoming one of the most respected songwriters of all time.

Timothee Chalamet will play Dylan in this particular projectr, alongside Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, who played Blowin’ In The Wind at the festival.

James Mangold will direct from a screenplay by Gangs Of New York writer Jay Cocks. Mangold is slotting this in before he heads off to make a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm.

A Complete Unknown will begin production in the summer, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
