Tom Clancy’s The Division is becoming a movie

Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal are to star in the film of Tom Clancy’s The Division, UbiSoft has officially announced.

UbiSoft had a false start or two as it looked to move its videogame catalogue to the movies. The Assassin’s Creed film for instance – starring Michael Fassbender – was supposed to trigger a bunch of sequels, but the muted reaction to the film stopped that plan quickly.

However, now things seem to be motoring again, this time with a movie on the way of Tom Clancy’s The Division. The publisher has confirmed a partnership with Netflix for the movie, and it’d already been announced that Rawson Marshall Thurber (Dodgeball, Skyscraper) was set to direct the film.

The confirmation is in too that Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal are to lead the ensemble for the movie.

There’s no word yet on a release date, but it sounds like the project is pressing ahead fairly quickly now. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
