Tom Cruise has reportedly filmed a skydiving segment for the 11th August Olympic handover. Thatā€™s one way for LA 2028 to make an entrance, we suppose.

Bring together a large group of people doing objectively risky feats of athleticism, and chances are youā€™ll scoop up Tom Cruise somewhere along the line. Itā€™s a surprise the Top Gun star hasnā€™t turned up in Jackass yet.

Cruise, of course, is currently in Paris for the 2024 Olympics, and according to TMZ thatā€™s not the only involvement heā€™s had with the sporting celebration, having filmed a segment for the closing ceremony back in March and potentially doing a bit of live rappelling into the Stade de France when the big event comes to a conclusion next week.

In the pre-recorded piece, the actor apparently skydives down to the Hollywood Sign as part of Parisā€™ handover to Los Angeles, which is due to host the Olympics in 2028. Another segment involving a big party on Will Rogers State Beach was cancelled over administrative and highway-closure concerns, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The news comes after ā€œa well-placed sourceā€ told Deadline to ā€œexpect a major Hollywood productionā€ yesterday. Unless Mission: Impossible 8 involves Ethan Hunt having a punchout with the president of the International Olympic Committee, weā€™d imagine this is that (as oddly-phrased as the quote may be).

Meanwhile, Cruise has been having a lovely time watching some sporting events under his own steam. According to Reuters, he joined Lady Gaga, John Legend, Ariana Grande and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour to watch Simone Biles qualify in the Womenā€™s Gymnastics over the weekend.

This isnā€™t the first time olā€™ Tom has found himself involved in the Olympics, either. He previously carried the torch through part of LA on its journey to Athens for the games in 2004.
