An action-packed preview of Chris Hemsworth’s follow up to the popular 2020 film Extraction has arrived.

2020’s Extraction was an example of a Netflix film that really cut through, something that the company freely admits that it has struggled with over the last few years. When Extraction released back in 2o20, there was a real buzz about the movie and as it became Netflix’s most watched original film to that point, talks of a sequel quickly emerged.

It took a while for that to happen for a variety of reasons, not least because some of the action sequences in Extraction 2 look to be rather ambitious indeed. Along with Chris Hemsworth returning to lead the film, Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the original, whilst Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili also feature. Sam Hargrave is back on directing duties, with Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO producing and Joe Russo having penned the movie.

The film is said to one-up the long-take action sequences that we saw in the original Extraction, with the trailer giving us a look at one such sequence aboard a train. Whilst we’ll reserve judgement until we see the final film, we’re hoping that the sequences don’t look too digitally stitched together as rather than deepening immersion, the opposite effect can sometimes happen. We only mention this because the Russos’ last film, The Gray Man (also for Netflix) featured some great practical action moments but also some pretty jarring CGI in one or two places.

Extraction 2 is coming on June 16th and we imagine it might be quite popular. Here’s that trailer below…
