The iconic animation director Henry Selick returns for Wendell And Wild, his first film in over a decade – here’s the first trailer.

If anybody has an enviable filmography, it’s Henry Selick. He may only have directed four films over 30 years, but what great films – The Nightmare Before Christmas, James & The Giant Peach, the underrated Monkeybone and the majestic Coraline.

Now, we can add a fifth to that list with Wendell And Wild. Directing from a script he co-wrote with Jordan Peele, the official synopsis reads as follows:

Wendell & Wild is an animated tale about scheming demon brothers Wendell and Wild – who enlist the aid of 13-year-old Kat Elliot – a tough teen with a load of guilt – to summon them to the Land of the Living. But what Kat demands in return leads to a brilliantly bizarre and comedic adventure like no other, an animated fantasy that defies the law of life and death, all told through the handmade artistry of stop motion.

Keegan-Michael Key and Peele play Wendell and Wild, respectively, alongside Lyric Ross, Angela Bassett, James Hong, Tamara Smart, Natalie Martinez, Tantoo Cardinal, Gabrielle Dennis, Igal Naor, David Harewood, Maxine Peake, Ramona Young, Sam Zelaya, Seema Virdi, Gary Gatewood and Ving Rhames.

Wendell and Wild is getting a limited cinema release from the 21st October before landing on Netflix on the 28th October, just in time to watch it in a Halloween double bill with Nightmare Before Christmas. Watch the trailer below…
