Johnny Depp joins Forest Whitaker to track down B I G’s killers in delayed drama City Of Lies, set to release this month in the US.

The question of who murdered the legendary rap star Notorious B.I.G. is one that remains unsolved. City Of Lies, starring Johnny Depp, sees the actor playing an LAPD detective who has spent 20 years trying to track down the truth about B.I.G.’s death. Forest Whitaker co-stars in the film as a journalist who unites with Depp’s Russell Poole to try and solve the crime, despite elements of the LAPD trying to silence them.

The film itself has been held up owing to Depp’s well-publicised legal issues, but is finally set to release on March 19th in US cinemas before heading to VoD on April 9. No UK release date has yet been confirmed but we’d expect to see it appear around the time of the film’s US launch. Don’t hold us to that, though.

Whilst Depp’s involvement is likely to prove divisive following damaging and serious allegations that have already caused him to leave the Warner Bros Fantastic Beasts franchise, the film does boast an interesting support cast, including Jamal Wooland as B.I.G., reprising his performance from the film Notorious where he played the rapper previously.

You can catch the trailer below ahead of the film’s imminent launch.
