British comedy Apocalypse Clown will be released in September, and the first trailer for the movie has landed.

From Stephen King’s It, to Ross Noble’s surprisingly sinister turn in Stitches, with perhaps the most recent example being the controversial Terrifier series, there are plenty of films out there to give coulrophobes a sleepless night.

We now have another one to add to the list, although it is distinctly lighter in tone. According to Chortle, Apocalypse Clown follows “a troupe of failed clowns who embark on a chaotic adventure after a mysterious solar event plunges the world into anarchy”.

David Earl, whose superb film Brian And Charles is well worth seeking out, stars as the leader of the troupe, alongside clowning comedian Natalie Palamides, Amy De Bhrún, Fionn Foley, Tadhg Murphy and Ivan Kaye

Inside No. 9 director George Kane helmed the film from a script by Shane O’Brien, James Walmsley and Demian Fox, who are also known as the comedy troupe Dead Cat Bounce.

Apocalypse Clown will be released in UK cinemas on the 1st September.
