Pretty Red Dress is a drama which will be released by the BFI in June, and the first trailer has landed. Right here…
Alexandre Burke found huge success after winning The X Factor in 2008, both as a singer/songwriter and in musical theatre, where she starred in The Bodyguard both in the West End and in the touring production.
She now makes her feature film debut in Little Red Dress, a drama which premiered at the 2022 London Film Festival.
The official synopsis reads as follows:
Travis (Natey Jones) has just been released from prison and it quickly becomes apparent that everything has changed while he’s been gone. His girlfriend Candice is on the up, auditioning to star in a musical; teenage daughter Kenisha is struggling in school and her relationship with her mum is tense. When Travis buys Candice her dream dress for an audition, rather than smoothing over the family’s problems, it ends up creating even more… As secrets and desires unsaid threaten to spill out, Travis is forced to re-examine who he is and how he wants to be perceived in the world.
Jones and Burke headline the film, alongside Temilola Olatunbosun.
Dionne Edwards makes her feature directorial debut, she also wrote the script.
Pretty Red Dress will be released by the BFI in June, although no specific date has been set, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
