Trailer released for DC’s Blue Beetle movie

The next film under the DC label is Blue Beetle, that’s arriving in August: here’s the trailer for the superhero feature. DC, in a bid to rival Marvel’s monopoly of the superhero genre, has put in place its own ten year plan. Spearheaded by Peter Safran and James Gunn, films on the slate include Superman: LegacySupergirl: Woman Of TomorrowBatman: Brave And The Bold, Swamp Thing and The Authority. The latest film to be released – a holdover from the previous regime – will be Blue Beetle. The synopsis reads as follows: Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE. Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña headlines the film, alongside Belissa Escobedo, George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, Raoul Trujillo and Susan Sarandon. Angel Manuel directed the film from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnett-Alcocer. Blue Beetle will be released in UK cinemas on the 18th August.
