Ethan Coen, one half of the Coen Brothers, directs the crime caper Drive Away Dolls – and here’s the trailer. The Coen Brothers have been responsible for some of the most iconic films of the 1990s and beyond., Barton Fink, Fargo, The Big Lebowski and many, many more. You probably know that already. More recently though they’ve gone in different directions: Joel Coen went solo to direct 2021’s The Tragedy Of Macbeth, while Ethan directed the documentary Jerry Lee Lewis: Trouble In Mind. Drive Away Dolls is the first narrative feature Ethan has directed solo. The synopsis reads as follows… This comedy caper follows Jamie (Margaret Qualley), an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend, and her demure friend Marian who desperately needs to loosen up. In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, Florida, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way. The ensemble cast includes Geraldine Viswanathan as Marian, Matt Damon, Pedro Pascal, Colman Domingo, Bill Camp, Beanie Feldstein, Annie Gonzalez, and Joey Slotnick. Coen directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Tricia Cooke. Drive Away Dolls will be released on the 22nd September.
