George Miller’s new film stars Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton – and the first trailer for it has just landed.

George Miller has an enviable filmography, but when it comes to new films, he certainly takes his time. His last release was the brilliant Mad Max: Fury Road, which made its way to cinemas in 2015 after a hellish production period of 17 years. Spin off Furiosa, which will follow Charlize Theron’s character, is due to be released in 2024.

Now, we finally have a trailer for his latest project. Three Thousand Years Of Longing is based on the short story of the same title by A.S Byatt and tells the story of a scholar and her encounter with a mysterious Djinn (genie), who offers the traditional three wishes. Not much else is known of the plot, except that it results in consequences that neither of them saw coming.

Idris Elba is the Djinn and Tilda Swinton is Alithea Binnie, while Miller directs and co-writes with his daughter Augusta Gore.

The film is set to be released August 31st in the US and 30th September in the UK. See the trailer below.
