The sequel to 2021’s Afterlife is officially called Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and there’s a rather intriguing trailer too.

It’s now November. It gets dark at 3pm and I’ve had to dig out my ugliest pair of thick socks as the temperatures have suddenly plummeted. It happened so fast, too – just a month ago, I was frolicking around in a T-shirt!

In that sense, the first trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire feels painfully relatable as a summer heatwave is interrupted by the sudden arrival of a supernatural cold front.

Take a look at the first Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire trailer.

The Spengler family are back after their introduction in 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and they’re not the only ones returning for the sequel. It looks like the original Ghostbusters members, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson are joining the family in their fight against another ghostly foe.

Paul Rudd is also returning alongside Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace and Carrie Coon. Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt have also joined the cast and Ghostbusters alum Annie Potts is coming back too!

Gil Kenan is on directing duties and he’s also penned the script together with Jason Reitman, who directed Afterlife, which paid homage to Jason’s father Ivan Reitman’s original films. Ivan Reitman passed away in February 2022, but his legacy lives on, especially through the Ghostbusters franchise.

Here’s an official synopsis for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, in case you don’t believe me: “In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.”

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is set to be unleashed into cinemas on 29th March 2024.
