Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood headlines new comedy drama Daddy Issues, and here are the details of the new show.

Sex Education is one of those shows where you could legitimately call every main actor a breakout star. Asa Butterfield continues to star in a wide variety of films, Ncuti Gatwa is the Fifteenth Doctor, and Emma Mackey and Connor Swindells snagged roles in Barbie.

Aimee Lou Wood is no exception. She will shortly be seen in British comedy Seize Them! and in Jack Thorne’s Toxic Town. Last year we also saw her on the big screen in the terrific Living, opposite Bill Nighy. She’s pictured here in that very movie.

Now though, she has another television project on her immediate slate.

That’s because British Comedy Guide reports that Lou Wood has been cast as the lead in comedy drama Daddy Issues.

Written by former stand up comedian Danielle Ward, details of the plot are being kept under wraps for the time being, but we do know that Lou Wood will be reuniting with Susan Lynch, who played her character’s mother in Sex Education, and that the show will be directed by The Inbetweeners’ co-writer Damon Beesley.

Production is expected to begin in December. That suggests that we might be seeing the show at some point towards the end of 2024, although as of yet, that hasn’t been confirmed.

More as we hear it, of course. And if you haven’t had the chance to check Living out yet, then it’s available on streaming services now. A film that doesn’t deserve to disappear into the ether…
