Here’s the first trailer from Ishana Night Shyamalan (daughter of M Night) – woodsy horror The Watchers, starring Dakota Fanning.

Introducing the debut feature from Ishana Night Shyamalan (M Night Shyamalan’s daughter), a brand new film by the name of The Watchers.

The movie is an adaptation of AM Shine’s 2022 novel of the same name. What’s it about? The blurb reads that ‘Dakota Fanning stars as Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.’

M Night Shyamalan produces the film, which also stars Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan, and Olwen Fouere. The film releases on the 7th June. The trailer is at the bottom of this article, waiting patiently for you.

In other Shyamalan news, Josh Hartnett has been chatting about starring in Shyamlan Senior’s next film, Trap. While the project is shrouded in typical Shyamalan secrecy, Hartnett did have this to say about the project to Indie Wire:

“It’s a pivot, but I try to make all of my roles pivots. If you’re playing the same thing again and again, it gets boring to the audience. Working with M Night was one of the best experiences of my career. I think he’s a true Artist in the capital-A sense of the word. And I think people are gonna be really surprised and excited about the movie we make. It’s very bizarre, very dark, and it’s wild.”

Shyamalan and his Blinding Edge Pictures production company signed a multi-year, first-look deal with Warner Bros, the first film in that deal being The Trap which is potentially set to release in August.

The filmmaker has dropped a couple of hints about the project, saying, “it’s a thriller. It’s very unusual and very new compared to what I’ve been trying to do [recently], but I’m feeling very excited about the story, so much so that I can’t wait to tell it to you guys. I will say this, the angle into the story is why it’s so exciting. The story might be something that you’ve seen before but the angle is very, very unique – the point of view.”

Two Shyamalan films in one year. It should make for an interesting summer of intrigue, shouldn’t it? In the meantime, here’s that first trailer for The Watchers.
