Actor Neil Maskell makes his directorial debut with Klokkenluider, which comes to UK cinemas this weekend, here’s the trailer.

Neil Maskell has carved something of a niche in British film and television, often cast as terrifyingly unhinged characters, from Kill List to Utopia and the title role in Paul Andrew Williams’ Bull.

Now, Maskell makes his directorial debut with the intriguingly named Klokkenluider, which translates as whistleblower. The synopsis reads as follows:

Ewan, a government whistleblower, and Silke, his forthright Flemish wife, as they are sent to a remote country house in west Belgium. Joined by two close protection officers, they await the arrival of a British journalist.

The cast includes Tom Burke, Jenna Coleman, Amit Shah, Roger Evans and Sura Dohnke

Maskell writes and directs. Ben Wheatley, with whom Maskell worked on Kill List, is among the executive producers.

Klokkenluider will be released in UK cinemas on the 1st September, on the day this story is being posted.
