Meg Ryan goes back behind the camera for What Happens Later, and co-stars as well: here’s the trailer.

Meg Ryan made her directorial debut with drama Ithaca in 2015

Her second film as director/producer will also see her back in front of the camera for the first time in over a decade – her last starring role was Serious Moonlight in 2009 – and it takes her back to her romcom roots. The synopsis of What Happens Later reads as follows:

Two ex-lovers, Bill (David Duchovny) and Willa (Meg Ryan) get snowed in at a regional airport overnight. Indefinitely delayed, Willa, a magical thinker, and Bill, a catastrophic one, find themselves just as attracted to and annoyed by one another as they did decades earlier. But as they unpack the riddle of their mutual past and compare their lives to the dreams they once shared, they begin to wonder if their reunion is mere coincidence, or something more enchanted.

Ryan and Duchovney are the only two members of the cast. Ryan also co-wrote the screenplay with Steven Dietz and Kirk Lynn.

What Happens Later will be released on the 13th October.
