Jodie Comer headlines The End We Start From, and the trailer for the post apocalyptic London-set film has landed.
Post apocalyptic London was perhaps most famously envisaged onscreen by Danny Boyle in 28 Days Later, as Cillian Murphy wanders alone through an eerily deserted city.
The End We Start From begins in the same setting. The synopsis reads as follows:
England, tomorrow: Forced out of London by cataclysmic flooding, a new mother (Jodie Comer) her partner (Joel Fry), and their infant make their way to his parents’ home in the countryside, only to find the situation growing increasingly desperate there, as well… An apocalyptic drama that still makes room for hope, The End We Start From uses the language of genre to ask the only question that matters about our increasingly bleak future: What will you do? And why aren’t you doing it already?
Also in the cast are Joel Fry, Katherine Waterston, Gina McKee, Nina Sosanya, Mark Strong and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Mahalia Belo directs from a screenplay by Alice Burch, based on the novel of the same name by Megan Hunter.
The End We Start From will premiere at TIFF, no release date has been announced.
