James Cameron’s True Lies comes to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, and we finally have a confirmed UK release date for March.
We’re a couple of months away now from the release of a trio of James Cameron films on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. We already know that Aliens is 100% confirmed for UK release, and that’s been given a release date of April 1st 2024.
Meanwhile, the eagerly-awaited remaster of The Abyss will be skipping the UK altogether, for reasons that are covered in a bit more detail here.
Finally, there’s True Lies, Cameron’s 1995 hit starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. This is – like The Abyss – a movie that’s never had a proper Blu-ray release over here or in the US, and it’s also coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray too.
The releases have been known about for some time, but it looks like in the UK True Lies will be arriving earlier than Aliens. An actual release date has finally popped up, and the film is due on the 4K format here on March 18th 2024.
The disc is coming loaded with extra features, as well as the remaster of the movie itself. However, it’s not been without a few bumps to get this far. A 4K transfer of True Lies debuted on video on demand services in the US just before Christmas, and there’s been some criticism of the work that was done. The hope is that when the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc turns up, it’ll come out better than the video on demand option.
True Lies is now available to preorder from all the usual places. You can find the listing for the film here, and gleam a few extra details there as well.
Hopefully, somewhere along the line, there’s a fresh remaster of Terminator 2: Judgment Day on the stove. Fingers crossed…
