London set action comedy Polite Society is hitting UK cinemas next year, from the creator of the TV show We Are Lady Parts.

For anybody who has not yet had the pleasure, Channel 4 sitcom We Are Lady Parts – pictured – is a delightful sitcom that follows the members of an all-female Muslim punk band, which aired on Channel 4 earlier this year.

Creator Nida Manzoor is now making her feature directorial debut with Polite Society, which “follows martial artist-in-training Ria Khan, who believes she must save her older sister Lena from her impending marriage. After enlisting the help of her friends, Ria attempts to pull off the most ambitious of all wedding heists in the name of independence and sisterhood”.

Priya Kansara will star as Ria, alongside Ritu Arya, Shobu Kapoor, Ella Bruccoleri, Seraphina Beh, Shona Babayemi, Nimra Bucha, Jeff Mirza and Akshay Khanna.

Manzoor will write and direct for Working Title Pictures, with Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Olivier Kaempfer, and John Pocock producing.

Polite Society is set for release in the UK on the 7th April 2023, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
