Santa Claus is back on the rampage next year, with David Harbour set to return for Violent Night 2. More here.
You may, at this time of year, be working your way through dozens of sweet Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel, which all seem to involve some manufactured conflict, and perhaps even a smooch at the end. Or you may reach the other way, and call on David Harbour when it’s all getting a bit too much. As Santa Claus in festive action fest Violent Night, he wasn’t very Hallmark-y. He’s actually really rather violent. A solid success on release, plans were swiftly afoot for Violent Night 2.
Those plans, we now learn, are accelerating. Tommy Wirkola, who directed the first film, is confirmed to be back for the second as well. Pat Casey and Josh Miller are said to be on scripting duties, but things had gone a little quiet since the sequel was first talked about.
However, David Harbour has sorted that out. In a new post to his Instagram feed, he’s popped up in an innocent-looking enough festive photo. However, eagle-eyed scrollers might want to pay attention to what the man’s holding in his right hand: a screenplay for Violent Night 2.
Here’s the post…
The plan is to shoot Violent Night 2 now in 2025, and that points towards a Christmas release around this time next year. With Terrifier 3 also taking a less than family-friendly approach to the festive movie, there might be quite the double bill hiding in here.
More concrete news on Violent Night 2 is expected shortly, but the bottom line here is it appears to be written, it’s clearly happening, and Santa – once again – is about to be in a very bad mood.
