Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode’s Film Review programme continues, with a few little changes.

The good ship Wittertainment is continuing to sail, with the news that the Kermode & Mayo Film Review programme – featuring Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode – will be broadcasting as usual on Radio Five Live.

Well, sort of.

The show is being recorded as always on a Friday afternoon, although it won’t straight away go out on the radio. Instead, a one hour version will be on Radio Five Alive at 9pm on Saturday. The podcast of the show, though, will be available as always at full length from late Friday afternoon.

The focus of the programme will move away, logically, from cinema releases to movies it’s possible to watch at home. Furthermore, it’s announced on its Twitter feed a few changes that’ll help keep things moving.

The Lobby Correspondents feature, where people are asked to record reactions to a film as they leave the cinema, is being replaced by Lockdown Correspondents. Furthermore, the show will each week look at the work of a different director and recommend some of their best films. Lynne Ramsey is first up. And they’ll be a focus too on recommending U certificate films that everyone can watch.

Regular features such as TV Movie Of The Week, TV Movie Of The Week: So Bad It’s Bad, DVD Of The Week and The Really Appalling Jokes will remain in tact, and new releases to streaming will replace new releases in cinemas. We’d assume that the off-topic cutting edge conversations between Messrs Kermode and Mayo about 70s music will be unaffected by current events too.

The programme will continue weekly on Five Live Radio. Long may the ship sail, and hello to Jason of course.
