Sylvester Stallone drives a truck and arm wrestles in Over The Top, and now you can see all this in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

Finally. The best part of a decade into the life of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format, and we’re finally getting to the lower shelves of the video shop. Case in point, the Sylvester Stallone 1987 feature Over The Top, a film where Cannon Films paid Sly a fortune for a movie that’s ridiculously good fun. A decent double bill with Cobra, I’d suggest, although neither movie really performed at the box office.

Anyroad, Over The Top sees him playing Lincoln ‘Linc’ Hawk. He’s a very manly man, who drives a massive truck and also takes part in arm wrestling competitions. In fact, you can see the fridge magnet pitch: Rocky, but with arm wrestling. Give me Rocky with crown green bowls next.

It’s quite hard to make arm wrestling cinematic, and director Menahem Golan does, in truth, struggle with that a little. Still, they don’t make ‘em like this anymore, and you can now enjoy the majesty of Over The Top in 4K for the first time.

Altitude is set to release the film on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format in the UK on 30th June 2025.

There’s a ‘mediabook’ release, that you can find here. And there’s also a limited edition Steelbook, that you can find here.

Both versions are available for preorder now. The release comes with a 24-page booklet, which scandalously we weren’t invited to contribute an essay to. There are also the original trailers on the disc as well.

While you head off to do a bit of shopping, we’ll leave you with the synopsis for the film…

Sylvester Stallone stars as hard-luck big-rig trucker Lincoln Hawk and takes us under the glaring Las Vegas lights for all the boisterous action of the World Armwrestling Championship in Over the Top.

Relying on wits and willpower, Hawk tries to rebuild his life by capturing the first-place prize money – and the love of the son (David Mendenhall) he abandoned years earlier into the keeping of his rich, ruthless father-in-law (Robert Loggia). He matches muscles with some of the game’s gargantuan greats – and grips you tightly with a rousing finale. Grab hold for rip-roaring fun!

Here’s our 4K release list too. You’ll find Over The Top on there…
