Warner Bros. has dated the next MonsterVerse film for release in March of 2027. More on the news below.
The dust has just about settled after Godzilla and Kong teamed up to fight the Scar King in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, but Warner Bros is already looking ahead to the next film in the kaiju franchise.
As reported by Deadline, Warner Bros. has not only scheduled Denis Villeneuve’s next film for 2026, but also the next MonsterVerse film. It’s understood to be another Godzilla and Kong team-up, which we already know will be directed by Grant Sputore after Adam Wingard stepped away from the director’s chair.
The new MonsterVerse movie will arrive on screens on 27th March, 2027 so there’s a bit of a wait still. Dave Callaham is penning the script.
If you’re itching for more Titan-related entertainment in your life, a second season of Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters has been announced, although there’s currently no word on when we might see it. AppleTV+ has also promised spin-offs, but details on those have been similarly scarce.
Although critical notices were mixed (we gave it two stars in our review) Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was a box office success for Warner Bros. The Kong-focused sequel stomped to an impressive $570m during its cinema run earlier this year. It’s not quite Dune: Part Two money (north of $700m) and certainly not Inside Out 2 takings (over $1bn and counting) but given what a difficult year 2024 has been for cinemas so far, it’s a healthy sum – healthy enough that Legendary Pictures is already thinking about a sequel at any rate.
We’ll keep you updated on all Titan-related news as we get it.
