Get your first look at Jumbo, the acclaimed, strangely beautiful story of a girl who falls in love with a fairground ride.
From John Carpenterās Christine to Alex Garlandās Ex Machina, thereās a wonderful tradition of movies about the seductive power that machines can wield over people, and thatās without even mentioning the beautiful Spike Jonze film, Her. All three of these films explore the same theme but through markedly different genres. Now, we may well have another classic to add to this list with Jumbo, set for release in the UK in spring 2021.
The surreal French film, written and directed by debut helmer, Zoé Wittock stars Noémie Merlant, who was quite brilliant in Portrait Of A Lady On Fire, as a shy fairground worker who becomes attracted to one of the carousel rides.
Jumbo made its debut in competition at Sundance last year and has received acclaim at several other festivals too. When we hear news of a firm UK release date, you can be sure that weāll let you know. In the meantime, do check out the gorgeous trailer below.
