Joel Kinnaman will reportedly star in Silent Night, John Woo’s first Hollywood film for almost two decades.
John Woo is returning to Hollywood for his next feature film, a reappearance that will see the director of such 1990s American action flicks as
Face/Off and
Mission: Impossible 2 making an action film on US soil once more. And just to punctuate the point that it is action on Woo’s mind, the film will contain no dialogue at all.
Silent Night will be Woo’s next project, with
Suicide Squad’s Joel Kinnaman set to star as a ‘normal father who heads into the criminal underworld to avenge the death of his young son.’
The film will mark Woo’s first Hollywood movies since 2003’s
Paycheck. Since that time, the director has been working in Hong Kong cinema.
If timelines happen to match up, Woo might even find
Silent Night going up against a belated sequel to
Face/Off, probably his most beloved Hollywood action flick. A sequel to that film is in development with
Godzilla Vs Kong's Adam Wingard set to direct. Woo is in no way involved with that film, and as it stands, it sounds like he has his hands full with
Silent Night.
We’ll let you know more on this one as we hear it.
