Daisy Ridley’s new thriller, Cleaner, has found UK and Irish distribution with Sky and can be expected to land in 2025.
To counterbalance the rather disappointing news that Daisy Ridley’s next outing as Rey in a galaxy far, far away is further delayed, we’ve got some positive news on the actor’s next film.
Ridley will appear in Cleaner, an upcoming thriller in which she plays an ex-soldier, now working as a window cleaner, who gets caught up in a hostage situation as a group of activists take over an energy company’s gala event. The night takes an even more dangerous turn when one of the activists turns out to be an extremist whoās not afraid to murder everyone in the building.
Screen Daily reports that Sky has acquired the rights to Cleaner in both the UK and Ireland and will release the film in early 2025. According to the outlet, the film will head straight onto Sky Cinema, but we’re holding out hope that the film might make a brief appearance in cinemas. Never say never, right?
“Cleaner is a best-of-British gripping thriller that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats,” commented Julia Stuart, Sky Original Film’s director of original film. “Following our partnership with the top-class team at Anton on Fuze [David Mackenzieās upcoming thriller, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson] – it’s fantastic to have this female-driven, nail-biting action package with the formidable Daisy Ridley in the lead.”
Cleaner is directed by Martin Campbell, a filmmaker perhaps best known for rebooting the Bond franchise twice with GoldenEye and Casino Royale. Ridley is joined by Clive Owen and Taz Skylar in the film’s cast. Matthew Orton, Simon Uttley and Paul Andrew Williams penned the script for the film.
When we get a precise streaming date (or, you never know, word of a limited cinema release) weāll be sure to pass it along.
