The Benedict Cumberbatch-headlined film that awards season has overlooked is coming to DVD and Blu-ray.

Whilst The Power Of The Dog is a frontrunner in this year’s awards season, Benedict Cumberbatch also leads another film that was considered an early contender. However, the charming The Electrical Life Of Louis Wain appears to have been overlooked: a pity, as there’s plenty in here to like.

Co-starring Claire Foy, the film is the life story of Wain, covering his story from the late 1800s to the 1930s, as he seeks to unlock the mysteries of the world. That, and the story of his relationship with the woman who would become his wife, Emily.

There’s a terrific supporting cast too, including Andrea Riseborough, Toby Jones, Adeel Akhtar, Richard Ayoade, Taiki Waititi and Julian Barratt, with Olivia Colman on narration duties. There are also many, many cats. And not in the James Corden sense of the word.

Will Sharpe, the man behind the much-loved TV show Flowers directs, from a script he co-wrote with Simon Stephenson. And the film is available on digital video on demand services now, with a DVD and Blu-ray release on March 21st. You can find out more, and order a copy, here.
