Rosaline puts a fresh twist on Romeo And Juliet, and here’s the first trailer for the incoming movie, headlined by Kaitlyn Dever.
There have been, as you well know, many iterations of Shakespeare’s Romeo And Juliet brought to the screen over the years. More recently the range has taken us from Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film, which transported his characters and verse to modern day Verona Beach, to the delightful 2011 animation Gnomeo And Juliet.
Now, we’re getting a new take on the tale, which will see the story from the perspective of Juliet’s cousin. The movie is called Rosaline, and the official synopsis reads as follows…
Juliet’s cousin Rosaline also happens to be Romeo’s recent love interest. Heartbroken when Romeo meets Juliet and begins to pursue her, Rosaline schemes to foil the famous romance and win back her guy.
Kaitlyn Dever stars as Rosaline, with Kyle Allen and Isabela Merced as Romeo and Juliet. Sean Teale, Minnie Driver and Bradley Whitford also feature.
Karen Maine directs from a screenplay by 500 Days Of Summer writers Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber.
Rosaline will stream in the UK on Disney+ from the 14th October. Watch the trailer below…
