A feature film version of the sitcom Workaholics has been scrapped just a few weeks away from production.
Workaholics is an American sitcom created by Adam Devine, Blake Anderson and Anders Holm. It ran for seven seasons on Comedy Central between 2011 and 2017 and focused on a group of immature telemarketers in California.
A feature film version was announced last year, to be made for streaming service Paramount+. It was just five weeks away from the start of principal photography as well. But you’ve read the headline of this article, so you know where this is going.
Devine reported the sad news in a lengthy Instagram post, saying that the streaming service felt the film didn’t fit their “global strategy”.
The film is being shopped to other streamers. Devine said that ““Hopefully we will get to make this insanely fun movie somewhere else”.
The news comes not long after the announcement that fellow cult sitcom Community is finally getting their film off the ground for rival streaming service Peacock. That one’s still going though…
