The fondly-remembered series ran during the mid-90s and ‘featured a clan of gargoyles as heroes transplanted from the 10th century to the modern day. Back in the middle ages, most of the clan is killed while Goliath and a small group of other gargoyles are cursed to be frozen in stone until their castle somehow reaches above the clouds. Goliath and his comrades awaken in the twentieth century, after the wealthy David Xanatos buys the castle and has it transported to, and reconstructed atop, his New York City skyscraper. The gargoyles protect the city and its people.’
With both writers and actors on strike, the project won’t be picking up steam anytime soon, that’s if it even exists. If a Gargoyles remake is real and Disney have simply neglected to involve its original creator at any level, this will add to the company’s growing list of public relations gaffes, the most recent of which saw its CEO tell off actors for striking to earn a few more quid whilst he was attending a conference for billionaires.
