The BBC has confirmed airdates for the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, starring David Tennant.
Well, it’s all about to begin again, with the first episodes of the second era of Russell T Davies overseeing Doctor Who. What’s more, the first episodes of the (brief) second era of David Tennant (and Catherine Tate) back in the TARDIS. Let’s get straight to it… The Star Beast – 25th November. Wild Blue Yonder – 2nd December. The Giggle – 9th December. Those are the dates Whovians need to mark in their diaries. Over a year after Jodie Whittaker regenerated into David Tennant, the 60th anniversary celebrations are set to kick off two days after the actual date of the show’s birthday. But then that’s because the show is also returning to Saturday nights for the first time in a long time, with all three episodes getting Saturday debuts. On top of the new special episode, Doctor Who Unleashed will air on BBC Three directly after each episode. It’s just like the old days again.

It’s been a busy week for Doctor Who news, as we learnt that Ncuti Gatwa’s second series has already started filming, and that Loki director Kate Herron is penning a script for the next series with her regular writing partner, comedian and improviser Briony Redman. Doctor Who will air on BBC One and iPlayer, exact times are yet to be confirmed. And once these episodes are done, don’t forget too that we get a Christmas special, that’ll introduce us to Gatwa’s Doctor properly for the very first time. A lot to look forward to.
