Jared Padalecki has been chatting to The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke about appearing in the final season of the superhero show. More on his comments below.
The Boys has been a feast for fans of Supernatural, showrunner Eric Kripke’s previous, long-running TV show. So far, three of the show’s four leads have starred in the satirical superhero drama, and it sounds like Kripke is looking to complete the set.
In an interview with Deadline, Jared Padalecki, who played Sam Winchester in Kripkeās breakout show, confirmed that a full Supernatural reunion was a possibility.
“We have talked [about a role]. As a matter of fact, we talked today,” the actor said. “I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously Eric and I are indelibly connected forever.”
Padalecki also told TVLine that a potential character has come up in his conversations with Kripke, but it had not been written yet.
“He and I have talked about what it could look like. It’s not written yet. He said it wouldn’t really be until 2025. We wouldn’t shoot until probably January-ish,” Padalecki said.

Kripke previously recruited Jim Beaver, who played Bobby in Supernatural, as politician Robert Singer in The Boys. Dean Winchester himself, Jensen Ackles then joined Prime Video’s superhero series as Captain America lookalike Soldier Boy in season three, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, aka John Winchester, appears as the mysterious Kessler in the on-going season four.
Kripke recently announced that The Boys would conclude with season five, so if a full Supernatural reunion was to happen, it has to happen fast. Padalecki seems keen, though.
“I mean, he created Supernatural. He created Sam Winchester. He created Ruby [Genevieve Padalecki], who I ended up marrying and starting a family with,” he told Deadline. “I adore him. I adore his humour. I adore him as a person, his storytelling. So I can’t wait. I don’t think [season five] films until next year, but I will be ready when he makes the phone call. I’ll just say ‘Okay, when am I flying out?ā”
More on The Boys season five, and Padalecki’s involvement, as we hear it.
