Try to imagine some of the best film scores you've heard. Like the thrilling bombast of Die Hard, the unique quirkiness of Brazil, and the epic romance of Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves. All of these have one thingin common: they were composed by the late Michael Kamen, whose talents and skills were only matched by his creativity and his generosity.
Kamen was famous for scoring some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters, but his career spanned work on all kinds of pictures such as the outlandish comedy The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen (1991), the John Waters film Polyester (1981), and the endearing drama Mr Holland's Opus (1995), which in tum begat the non profit of the same name that provides musical instruments for schools who cannot afford them.
Kamen was also known for fusing different musical genres in his scores and for bringing in giants from popular music to work with him, having previously worked with the likes of David Bowie and Pink Floyd. But if there's one type of film he was known for, it's the action movie.
