Get those shelves primed as we have a brand new show ready to place there on the Film Stories Podcast Network⦠The Collectors Commentary.
Hosted by Mark McManus and Ian Buckley, from an idea by AJ Black, and featuring in time a host of guests and people from within the industry, this show will examine the world of physical media film collection, looking at boutique labels, buying trends, new releases, old favourites and a lot more.
McManus outlined the mission statement: āStreaming is here to stay, and while thereās no denying its convenience, for true movie fans thereās no beating physical media. Unfortunately, the big studios seem to care less and less about the kind of bonus features and general care and attention we used to get back in the heyday of DVD. Luckily, there are a small but dedicated group of boutique labels around the world, working tirelessly to bring us newly restored, feature-packed releases covering everything from the latest low budget curious, to forgotten genre classics and neglected hits of the past. Our new podcast is all about celebrating their work, as we take a look at the releases and labels that deserve your custom.ā
Black added: āAnyone who is interested in film will enjoy this, whether youāre an avid collector or randomly buy a Blu-Ray when youāre in Asda. Mark and Ian are hugely knowledgeable, from both sides of the pond, about labels and film collectionāclear from their opening episodeāand are perfect stewards to revel in one of the best current means of keeping film preservation going.ā
The Collectors Commentary has now begun, with future episodes coming soon, including the first interview with Jed Shepherd, involved in a key production on Second Sightās recent stocked release of The Blair Witch Project.
