A trailer has arrived for Ethan Coen’s latest solo film, Honey Don’t! – starring Margaret Qualley – and it’s just a stylishly cool as you’d expect.

While it appears that the Coen Brothers are set to reunite at some point, for the moment they’re both continuing on their own solo filmmaking odyssey. For Ethan Coen, that means another film in the wake of Drive-Away Dolls, once again co-written with his partner, Tricia Cook. It’s called Honey Don’t!. It’s heading to cinemas in August and now it has a trailer.

Fans of the Coen’s work won’t be disappointed by the preview we get here, either. Stylishly shot neo-noir western iconography? Plenty of it. Absurdity and cool-as-an icicle dialogue in equal measure? Yes, indeed. We even get Chris Evans looking he might steal the entire film in what we’re hoping (along with Celine Song’s upcoming A24 romantic comedy, The Materialists) is the beginning of an overdue career resurgence for the actor.

Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza and Chris Evans are set to star, and while we don’t know too much, we do know that ‘the story is set in Bakersfield, California. Qualley (who also had a lead role in Drive-Away Dolls) will play a private eye, Plaza will star as a mysterious woman and Evans will portray the leader of a cult.’ Charlie Day and Billy Eichner co-star.

Drive Away Dolls certainly hit some of the right notes for Coen fans, with reception to the film being quite mixed. Honey Don’t! releases in the US on August 22nd and after having seen this preview, you can definitely see interest for the project ramping up. We’ll bring you more as we hear it.
