Next month finally sees a theatrical release for anticipated romantic comedy Anyone But You. Get a look here ahead of its 29th December debut.
If there’s one romantic comedy hurtling down the pipeline that seems to be making a lot of noise, it’s Anyone But You, the Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney-headlined film due to hit cinemas next month.
Powell has been surging since he featured in last year’s Top Gun: Maverick, most recently earning lots of plaudits for Richard Linklater’s Hit Man, which will stream on Netflix at some point in the future.
Sweeney meanwhile, has also been making waves in the same time period, featuring in the hit TV show Euphoria as well as being named as the title role in Edgar Wright’s proposed Barbarella remake, not to mention featuring in a what could be a very expansive role in the upcoming Sony Spider-Man spin-off, Madame Web.
Their next film, however, will see the duo team up in Anyone But You and given the narrative around rom-coms and theatrical releases isn’t always that positive these days, this film has been garnering something of a buzz.
The trailer even plays on the pair’s chemistry with a cure little opening featuring the duo introducing the trailer. The film heads to UK cinemas on 26th December and it’s going to be interesting to see how it performs. Here’s the synopsis:
Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold – until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple.
Alexandra Shipp, Darren Barnet, Bryan Brown, Joe Davidson, Rachel Griffiths and Dermot Mulroney round out a fun cast and Friends With Benefits and Easy A director Will Gluck helms the film. Here’s the Anyone But You trailer below:
