Director Greta Gerwigās Barbie movie is 113 minutes long, and will carry a 12A certificate in the UK: a bit more info right here.
Seems odd to be headlining a news story about a big summer film checking in with a bit of change under the two hour mark, but it’s been a bit of a year or so for bottom-testing movies. However, for those who like to get in and out of a cinema in around two hours, Greta Gerwig has your back.
She’s directed Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, and the film has just been rated by the BBFC, which confirms a couple of details about it. Unsurprisingly, that it’s been given a 12A certificate, that most of us were expecting. And then that the running time is 113 minutes, including credits.
The rating has been given for “moderate innuendo, brief sexual harassment, implied strong language”, and the BBFC as always has given extended guidance if you want things a tiny bit spoiled. You can find that here. https://www.bbfc.co.uk/release/barbie-q29sbgvjdglvbjpwwc0xmda5otq3
The film is out on July 21st, and goes directly against Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, that’s set to be 15-rated (unconfirmed, but it seems to be heading that way) and on the three hour side. Confirmation of that is expected shortly.
