The Bourne director Paul Greengrass’ next project is a British period drama, with Benedict Cumberbatch on board.
Nobody could ever accuse Paul Greengrass of playing things safe. After scoring three blockbuster hits with the Bourne franchise, and garnering critical praise for dramas United 93 and Captain Phillips, Greengrass is now setting his sights on a different era in history.
The Hood is set to examine the peasant revolt, which occurred in England in 1381. Little else is known about the plot, but given Greengrass’ penchant for painstakingly researched scripts filmed with his trademark cinema-verite, shaky-cam style to add intensity and realism, we can expect another top tier thriller.
Cumberbatch will play a farmer who becomes a leader in the revolt. Greengrass has written the script for this one too, and it is expected to begin filming soon.
