Ahead of the film’s release in July, Netflix releases a new clip featuring Eddie Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and helicopter piloting that would make Tom Cruise wince.

Axel Foley is returning to our screens this summer as Netflix gets ready to release the fourth film in the legendary action comedy film series, titled Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. Helmed by Mark Molloy, the film brings Eddie Murphy back in one of his most iconic roles and we were treated to a full trailer just last month.

Netflix is backing this one, meaning that the film is headed straight to the small screen. Still, if this newly-released clip is anything to go by, the action will still be outsized.

Last month, a trailer came out that saw Murphy’s Axel Foley wreaking his signature havoc in all kinds of ways. Now a new clip has been released which gives us a longer look at what may well be one of the film’s key action set pieces:

The first Beverly Hills Cop was released in 1984 and a sequel followed in 1987. A third film debuted in 1994 and Axel Foley hasn’t returned since, despite a fourth film having been long rumoured. When attempts to make Beverly Hills Cop 4 faltered at Paramount, the studio ultimately opted to licence the character to Netflix, and now we’re just a few weeks away from the film’s 3rd July release date.

Remarkably, Molloy – previously a director of adverts – is making his feature debut with this film. The director is following in the footsteps of giants too, given that the first three instalments were directed by Martin Brest, Tony Scott and John Landis respectively. Jerry Bruckheimer and Murphy are on producing duties here, while Will Beall has penned the script. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon and Judge Reinhold are among the film’s cast.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F streams on Netflix from the 3rd July.
