Eddie Murphy is back as detective Axel Foley in the fourth instalment of the iconic comedy franchise. Watch the new Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F trailer here.

Axel Foley is back on our screens this summer as Netflix gets ready to release the fourth film in the famed film series, titled Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.

Directed by Mark Molloy, the film brings Eddie Murphy back in one of his most recognisable roles and the film’s first full trailer just dropped.

Take a look at the new Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F trailer below.

We got a little tease of the film back in December, but the new trailer reveals a whole lot more. In the trailer, Foley is shown trashing a helicopter, a snowplow and a really big lorry as Paul Reiser tells him specifically to not damage any civic property. He also gets arrested, again. Axel Foley is back, baby!

Molloy is making his feature directorial debut with Axel F and what a film to make it with. The first Beverly Hills Cop was released in 1984 and a sequel followed in 1987. The third film bowed out in 1994 and Axel Foley hasn’t been seen since, despite a fourth film being rumoured back then.

Over the years, multiple directors have been attached to the film and Paramount Pictures even set Beverly Hills Cop 4 for release in 2016, but it never materialised. Paramount ultimately opted to licence the character to Netflix after they failed to get the sequel off the ground.

Jerry Bruckheimer and Murphy are on producing duties here, while Will Beall has penned the script. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon and Judge Reinhold are among the film’s cast.

Here’s the official synopsis: Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will release on Netflix 3rd July.
