Erin Kellyman, who appeared in Solo and The Green Knight, is the latest addition the cast of Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later.
Filming has already begun on 28 Years Later, a belated sequel to director Danny Boyle’s own series of horror films which began with 28 Days Later in 2002. And, as cameras roll, it’s reported that British actor Erin Kellyman has joined the cast, which already includes Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell.
It’s currently unknown what role Kellyman will play – but then again, there hasn’t been so much as a logline released for the film as yet. All we currently know is that the screenplay has been co-written by Boyle and Alex Garland (who wrote 28 Days Later) and that Cillian Murphy is set to reprise his role as bicycle courier and viral apocalypse survivor, Jim, last seen in the 2002 original.
Aged just 25, Kellyman has already worked on an impressive range of high-profile movies and TV shows. She stood out as the scruffy space pirate Enfys Nest in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, directed by Ron Howard, and played Winifred in David Lowery’s brilliantly trippy The Green Knight. Kellyman will next appear in Steve McQueen’s drama Blitz and Scarlett Johansson’s feature debut, Eleanor The Great.
On television, Kellyman landed multiple roles in Raised By Wolves, Les Miserables, Marvel’s The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, and played the lead in Disney’s fantasy revival, Willow, since deleted.
The original 28 Days Later was one of the most influential horror films of the 2000s thanks to its fast-moving infected hordes. The new film’s production advertised for marathon runners back in April, so whatever Kellyman’s role in 28 Years Later is, it’s likely to be a physical one.
28 Years Later is due for release on the 20th June 2025.
