For the third year in a row, a midlands-based event is looking to give a bunch of independent creatives access to big-shot production companies. More below:

We might be biased, but we’re dead keen on Birmingham here at Film Stories. Turns out, some of the UK’s biggest film and TV production companies agree. Ever since it was founded by Sophie Ivanova, Mellissa Donello and Louise Osbourne in 2021, the Birmingham Film & TV Market has given a bunch of local filmmakers the keys to the cinematic kingdom, as it were, by arranging a full day of networking events and meetings designed to spread the UK’s production potential to the midlands area.

This year’s event boasts some of the biggest production houses in the UK, and the organisers are even, apparently, looking to get more international companies involved to further widen the event’s scope. With London, Leeds and Manchester frequently seen as the production capitals of the UK (especially London), it’s good to see a regular event committed to widening industry access to all that lovely space in between them.

The Birmingham Film & TV Market is taking place on Friday 27 October 2023 at The Grand Hotel Ballroom, Birmingham.
