Australian crime drama series Boy Swallows Universe heads to Netflix next year, and the first trailer has landed.
Trent Dalton’s 2018 novel Boy Swallows Universe grew into a literary sensation in Australia and the television rights were quickly snapped up. It’s taken a little while after that to bring it to the screen, but we’re just about there now.
Netflix produced the adaptation and the synopsis reads as follows:
Crime, drugs, danger and a whole lotta hope. Adapted from Trent Dalton’s iconic novel, the series tells the story of a boy doing his best to hold his fractured family together in Brisbane in the 80s. Starring Phoebe Tonkin, Travis Fimmel and Bryan Brown, Boy Swallows Universe shows what happens when boyhood innocence collides with the brutal adult world.
Also in the cast are Zac Burgess, Felix Cameron, Lee Tiger Halley, Anthony LaPaglia and Sophie Wilde.
Bharat Nalluri, Jocelyn Moorhouse and Kim Mordaunt directed the show from scripts by John Collee.
Boy Swallows Universe will stream on Netflix in early 2024.
