Hereās a treat: acclaimed family comedy Little English has been added to ITVX for the next month, free of charge.
There was a story and a half behind the battle to get British South Asian independent feature film Little English made. From Pravesh Kumar, making his feature directorial debut, the movie made it to UK cinemas in 2023, no small feat at all for a low budget production. Furthermore, it’s picked up Best Feature Film at the National Film Awards as well.
Little English was made as the pandemic was winding down, and its existence is really quite something. That the film itself is so good, even better.
As part of South Asian Heritage Month, which is running from 18th July to 17th August, ITVX is making Little English available on its service, to open up the film to more and more people. The team behind the movie at Resource Productions meanwhile are deep into trying to get their next feature off the ground, so any help spreading the word of this one is double useful at the moment.
ITV’s Darren Nartey told Variety that “we are proud to include ‘Little English’ in our celebration of South Asian Heritage Month on ITVX, when users can enjoy a wide selection of films and shows that showcase the incredible cultures of this diaspora”.
It’s a big deal for an independent like this to be picked up by a mainstream broadcaster, and congratulations to the Little English team on their success. As for viewers, if you’re in the market for a quirky family comedy, then you could do an awful lot worse.
Little English is now available on the ITVX service to watch now.
