Woody Allen is heading back to a movie set for the first time since 2020, for the film Coup De Chance. Woody Allen’s work rate, pandemic notwithstanding, is usually a film a year. However, his last release was 2020’s Rifkin’s Festival, and with the unveiling of his next film it will be the longest gap between releases since his first and second films in 1966 and 1969. The reasons for the slowdown have been very thoroughly reported. Coup De Chance, filmed in French and which roughly translates into English as ‘stroke of luck’, will follow the story of an adulterous couple whose affair eventually leads to crime. The cast includes Lou de Laage, Melvil Poupaud, Valerie Lemercier, Niels Schneider, Elsa Zylberstein, Bárbara Goenaga, Grégory Gadebois, Anne Loiret, Sara Martins, Guillaume de Tonquédec and Arnaud Viard. Allen writes and directs, with regular collaborators alongside him, including producer Letty Aronson, veteran DP Vittorio Storaro, editor Alisa Lepselter, costume designer Sonia Grande. Coup De Chance is currently being shopped at the EFM Film Market in Berlin, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
